Port of Ennore Seeks Container Terminal Bid
– India’s Port of Ennore, located near Chennai, is seeking a new bid for its planned container terminal project. The terminal calls for 3,280 feet of quay and draft of 49 feet in order to allow for a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs a year.

Laos’ Preferential Import Duty Scheme Extended – Vietnam has extended the agreement with Laos to provide preferential duty rates on certain imports until December 31, 2013. The provision provides a 50% deduction or exemption from import duties on selected goods imported into Vietnam from Laos.

Indian Government Implements Incentive Program – The Indian government has implemented a performance-oriented scheme called Incremental Exports Incentivisation Scheme (IEIS). Under this program, exports to conventional markets such as the United States, Europe, or Asian countries will entitle the exporter to incentives such as a 2% duty credit script for an incremental growth in exports achieved during January-March quarter of 2012-13 over the same period last fiscal year.
