FTZ Approved in Shanghai
– China’s State Council has approved the setup of a pilot free trade zone (FTZ) in Shanghai. This will be the first free trade zone in mainland China and is seen as an important policy move by the Chinese government.

Port of Liverpool Upgrades Infrastructure – The Gladstone lock and adjacent container terminal at the Port of Liverpool are being upgraded ahead of plans for the Port’s new deep water container terminal, Liverpool2. When both projects are completed in 2015, the Port’s current container capacity will be doubled.

Port of LA to Improve Yang Ming Terminal – The Port of Los Angeles is initiating the environmental review process as the first step in Yang Ming’s plan to enhance their terminal facilities. The Taiwanese marine transport company plans to build a new wharf, expand the West Basin Intermodal Container Facility and deepen its berth to accommodate 14,000 TEU vessels and increase cargo volume.
