Annual Banana Festival, A Celebration of a Diverse Working Port” on Saturday, September 28
th
. The City of Port Hueneme, Chiquita and Del Monte were the largest sponsors of the event and gave away thousands of bananas, the port’s largest import.

EU-Central America Association Agreement Comes into Effect – On October 1 st , the European Union (EU)-Central America Association Agreement came into effect and removed trade barriers between the EU, Costa Rica and El Salvador. The agreement aims to support economic growth, democracy and political stability in Central America.

EU Launches Research Project – The European Research Project has been launched to help increase efficiencies in regulation compliance and enforcement for the maritime sector. The three year project closely aligns with the European Union e-Maritime initiative of which a key priority is supporting authorities and shipping operators to collaborate electronically in regulatory information management.
