Port Canaveral Port Canaveral Container Terminal Expansion Approved – Florida’s Governor Rick Scott is planning to ask state legislators for $9.7 million to expand the container terminal at Port Canaveral in preparation of the Panama Canal expansion opening in 2015. The port expansion includes widening and deepening the channel, constructing two new cargo berths and has purchasing two Post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes.

Cargo Fee Repealed by Port of Long Beach – The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners repealed a cargo fee on Monday, November 18 th . The fee would have been a charge on each cargo container to help fund roadway and railway improvements in and around the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

Costa Rica FTA with EU Approved – A Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Costa Rica and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) has been approved by a committee of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica. The EFTA will provide opportunities for products such a tropical fruits, coffee, flower, vegetables, industrial goods, medical devices and more to be traded with Europe.
